On Thursday 4 June at 12.30, during Velo-city 2015, VelopA was officially presented with both the UNIVERSAL DESIGN Consumer Favorite Award and the UNIVERSAL DESIGN Expert Favorite Award. VelopA received these prestigious awards during the Munich Creative Business Week in late February 2015 for its innovative bicycle parking solution, the Easylift +.

During Velo-city 2015 in Nantes, France, Thomas Bade, CEO of UNIVERSAL DESIGN, presented the awards to Frederik Vernède, VelopA’s General Director.

Thomas Bade: ‘UNIVERSAL DESIGN is about more than just good design. UNIVERSAL DESIGN is a philosophy and is borne out of social developments and new possibilities for application. The only way to ensure that products are accepted by both users and experts alike is to develop them in the context of public space. The Easylift + is not only suitable for public outdoor spaces, but also as a space-saving bicycle parking system for enclosed spaces. As such, VelopA’s expertise in designing public space meets the extensive set of requirements set by the experts of UNIVERSAL DESIGN, and those of end users.
At the presentation of the UNIVERSAL DESIGN Expert Award and the UNIVERSAL DESIGN Consumer Favorite Award 2015, a desire was also articulated to produce more universal design solutions for a changing society and the public spaces associated with it.’

‘At VelopA, we are working hard every day to help communities and governments create outdoor spaces that are pleasant and secure. User-friendly and secure bicycle parking systems are an essential part of urban infrastructure because they play an important role in promoting a healthier lifestyle for residents. We are honoured to have received the UNIVERSAL DESIGN Award,’ said Frederik Vernède.

On Thursday 4 June at 12.30, during Velo-city 2015, VelopA will be officially presented with both the UNIVERSAL DESIGN Consumer Award and the UNIVERSAL DESIGN Expert Award by none other than Thomas Bade, CEO of UNIVERSAL DESIGN.

VelopA received these prestigious awards during the Munich Creative Business Week in late February 2015 for its innovative bicycle parking solution, the Easylift +. This two-tier bicycle parking system is VelopA’s substantive contribution to the functional design of public space and to promoting the use of bicycles.

The jury, which consists of five renowned design experts and 50 consumers / end-users, gave both awards to only a handful of the 72 of the entries. The reason why this product was given both awards is that the Easylift + not only scores highly for its functionality, but also in terms of its design and usability.
