“This development is a key step in helping CROWD become a pan European leader in outdoor space infrastructure development, and we welcome the fresh, innovative ideas which Cyclepods brings to our organisation” says Dirk Hoorn, managing partner of Convent Capital. Cyclepods is the first foreign company to be added to the platform that up to now consisted of 4 Dutch companies. Included in the group is Velopa BV which is the market leader in the Benelux in designing outdoor spaces and cycling infrastructure. Velopa has enjoyed a very successful relationship with Cyclepods during the past 4 years, so it seemed very natural to turn this courtship into a marriage.
Cyclepods is a young, rapidly growing UK company whose designs have enjoyed tremendous success, making it a market leader in cycle parking solutions. Cyclepods designs sustainable products, using sustainable materials, which give cyclists and cycling greater safety, security and prominence. Its focus on sustainability, design and creativity make it a natural partner for Velopa with a great fit in the CROWD strategy and core values. Through new business models, innovative (modular) design and introducing technology into its products, CROWD envisions boosting the market transition from a linear to a circular one. James Steward, designer, and a Cyclepods co-founder, says “At its heart, Cyclepods is a company focused on design, sustainability and cyclists. We are delighted that cycling is being taken seriously and that cycle parking is becoming a market in its own right. This, together with the rapid growth of the market, helped us to decide to join a larger organisation with the same values. It also helped that we had worked very successfully with Velopa for several years. We are now part of a team with great focus and the resources to achieve our goal, which is to deliver great, sustainable and safe products to cyclists everywhere”.
