    Outdoors is healthier

The Omni-Gym is designed as a full alternative to an indoor gym. Exercising outdoors is healthier than doing the same activity inside. When people spend time outdoors, their bodies make vitamin D which is good for their immune system and metabolism. An outdoor gym will also make a great meeting place for people, and the design of Omni-Gym takes this into account. Senior Designer Feiko Withagen says “Keeping fit is something people want to do together. Because the units are placed next to each other, people can exercise together. They can have a chat about their week and still do their whole workout.”

    Always custom-made

The Omni-Gym is always custom-made and basically includes three constituent elements. There is modern equipment for cardio training, strength training and cross-training, providing a complete range of exercise possibilities. A multifunctional floor provides a space for contact sports, yoga or a warming up. And walls can be installed to keep out the worst of the wind. These can also be used to make a dressing room. The Omni-Gym is a flexible concept, so it can be tailored to the exact wishes of the customer. The priority could be cardio equipment, or it may mean that the floor should be big enough for zumba classes.

    Concept: from product to vision

The Omni-Gym is one of the new sports concepts that will be launched by VelopA Omniplay in 2012. Director Edo Gabes sees this as an important development. “Concepts are new in our market. We used to think in terms of products, but the Omni-Gym is the result of a vision: we wanted to develop a full gym but then outdoors. This gave us the freedom to think much more innovatively and come up with much nicer solutions. Later this year, we will be launching several more concepts for neighbourhood sports.”

LEIDERDORP VelopA has introduced a new and competitively priced version of its concrete table-tennis table. The new model has been given a modern look that fits perfectly into outdoor areas. Its low price and vandal-proof construction mean that the TT Massiv is an affordable addition to school playgrounds, campsites or residential areas.

    Smarter design
The original TT Massiv was designed over 10 years ago, so it was time for a new look. Thanks to the new design, the table goes perfectly with today’s streetscape. But we’ve made some other improvements too. We have reduced the weight of the table to make it easier to install. The steel base and thinner tabletop have made the table significantly lighter and cheaper, because the new design uses less material. However, the TT Massiv remains an extremely robust and vandal-resistant table-tennis table, which can still be installed onto the ground without the need for anchoring.

Bicyle racks with more space between the bikes should reduce the number of bikes parked obstructively.

VelopA is expanding its product range with bicycle racks that have a centre-to-centre distance of 40cm between adjacent bicycle spaces. This enables cyclists to park their bikes more easily and help discourage people from parking their bikes in a way that inconveniences others.

Bicycles racks with narrow spacing leads cyclists to park obstructively elsewhere

Bicycles are getting wider and wider. The width of handlebars is increasing and bicycle panniers and other accessories also add extra width. Existing bicycle racks often have a centre-to-centre distance of 37.5cm between the spaces, which is not enough for many of these bicycles. This means that some cyclists choose to park their bicycles elsewhere – it saves them from struggling to squeeze their bike into a narrow space and possibly damaging it. But this can also cause inconvenience to other road or pavement users. In order to combat this problem, and to make it easier to park bicycles in the racks provided, VelopA is introducing new versions of its existing bicycle racks with a centre-to-centre distance of 40cm.

New bicycle racks with a centre-to-centre distance of 40cm.

The Easylift+, Griffin, Variant+, Fourchet+, Apropos and TuliP are all available with these new dimensions. The complete range of bicycle parking systems from VelopA is also still available with the old dimensions, but the new version with more space for bicycles provides definite added value. The Dutch Cyclists Association (Fietsersbond) also backs this step. “We are delighted about the new 40cm separation distance. This had already been recommended in the document setting out norms for multi-level bicycle parking for FietsParKeur. It is not yet a norm for single-level bicycle parking in the FietParKeur document, but we do support it,” said Wim Bot, lobbyist for the Dutch Cyclists Association.

The removable bollards in the VelopA range are now available with a specially designed storage recess. This makes it easy to fold the bollards away and store them in the recess below ground level. Both the bollard and the storage recess can be operated easily using a triangular spanner.
