With the new Secundo planters, you not only bring more greenery into outdoor spaces but also ensure that reclaimed wood, originating from construction, renovation, or demolition projects, gets a second life.
The reclaimed wood comes from the same region as where VelopA is located, the Leiden region. What also makes these planters special is their social impact. The planters are manufactured and assembled at DZB Leiden; the municipality's reintegration company. All steel parts are made of sheet steel and are not welded, which ensures an energy-saving production process.
With the Secundo planters, we contribute to an inclusive society while reducing the ecological footprint through local production, material reuse, and minimizing energy use during the production process. The Secundo Relievo exhibits a distinct reused character, with paint and some holes, such as lock and hinge holes from doors, still visible. The wooden slats of the Secundo Relievo also vary in thickness, creating an irregular surface all around. Hence the name Relievo, which means relief.

MATERIALS AND TREATMENT
Side walls:
- reclaimed hardwood
This involves hardwood from renovation and demolition projects. The used wood may have originally been FSC® certified, but because the wood has already had a previous life cycle, the supply chain is interrupted and any FSC® certificates do not apply.

Corten steel is a special steel alloy. Its composition differs from that of regular steel. Corten steel products are supplied in rustless or limited rust versions. The corten steel oxidation process can take up to two years, depending on the location. Natural vinegar or saltwater (max. 50 grams per litre) can be used to accelerate the oxidation process. It can be applied with a moist cloth or plant spray. Any rust stains on paving will fade slowly. Stains can also be removed using a rust stain removing agent.
Inner bag:
- polypropylene
Polypropylene is high-quality (160 grams per m2), very strong, and 100% recyclable. The material is water and air-permeable and keeps sand and greenery together.
COLOURS
Side walls: Paint layers on the slats are still visible. The colours of the end product depend on the available colours at the time of production and cannot be specified when ordering.

The bottom has two openings in the centre for drainage. The inner bag is also water-permeable.

The planter is delivered as a standard flat package (4 walls, a base plate, and an inner bag).
