MATERIALS AND TREATMENT
Seating: pressed and impregnated bamboo, sustainability category 1
VelopA uses bamboo of the very highest quality, a material that offers many advantages. That’s because it is an environmentally-friendly product that benefits a healthy ecosystem. Bamboo grows very quickly, absorbs four times more CO2 during its lifetime than the trees used for tropical wood and it even gives out 35% more oxygen. It is also stronger than wood and retains its shape. And, like wood, it has a warm, natural look. Bamboo is durable and has a long lifespan, so it’s the sensible choice. In short, Bamboo is a perfectly viable alternative to sustainable FSC® certified hardwood.
Legs: corten steel
Corten steel is a special steel alloy. Its composition differs from that of regular steel. Corten steel products are supplied in rustless or limited rust versions. The corten steel oxidation process can take up to two years, depending on the location.
Natural vinegar or saltwater (max. 50 grams per litre) can be used to accelerate the oxidation process. It can be applied with a moist cloth or plant spray. Any rust stains on paving will fade slowly. Stains can also be removed using a rust stain removing agent.
MAINTENANCE ADVICE
Bamboo: VelopA's bamboo planks are oiled with bamboo oil as standard. We recommend cleaning the boards at least once a year with a tarnish remover and treating them with a water-based bamboo oil to prevent ageing and tarnishing.
For securing on a hard surface, anchor bolts can be used. For securing on other surfaces, the Reposa picnic table and bench set can be affixed with steel anchors. The small square heads can be incorporated easily into paving and are virtually unnoticeable.
